Little Einstein Children’s Centre – COVID-19 Health & Safety Procedures

In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, our daycare has put together health and safety protocols based on guidelines from Public Health. Little Einstein Children’s Centre has chosen to adopt stringent protocols in all regions where centers are operated. This has been done to protect our families, employees, and children.

Little Einstein Children’s Centre Employee Vaccination Policy

Our daycare has implemented a Vaccine Policy requiring all employees to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. We have made this choice in order to protect our families and staff, and most importantly, the children in our care who are not eligible for the vaccine.

Masks on Staff:

Teachers are required to always wear masks when interacting with kids’ other teachers, staff, and parents. This includes drop-off and pick-up times, whether indoors or outside, at the entrance to the daycare. We require teachers to wear masks in their classrooms all the time.

Daycare Tours:

Schools will conduct virtual tours or after-hours tours. This is to minimize non-staff members in the schools when children and teachers are present. Masks are required during all school tours.

Hours of Operations:

  • Hours of operations are reduced to allow sufficient time for cleaning every day and due to low number of kids
  • Hours are opened from 9.00 am – 6.00 pm (Daycare) 7.30 am-6.00pm (Before & after sch)

Arrivals and Departures

  • Parents will be asked to drop off at the front door and not enter the classroom.
  • If parents need to enter, they must stay on the welcome mat by the door.
  • Parents will be asked screening questions upon arrival on a daily basis.
  • Staff will fill out the attendance sheets.
  • If children arrive with illness symptoms they will not be allowed to stay at the center.
  • As per BC guidelines staff and children who are ill with fever or respiratory symptoms of any kind need to stay home.
  • When departing, staff will get the children ready to go. Parents can call 5 mins before arriving at the child care center and we will get the child ready. Parents will not need to enter the center.
  • When arriving or departing, if parents see another parent picking up, please wait until the other parent is done before coming to the door.
  • children need to wash hands upon arrival and before leaving the center.

Exclusion Criteria

  • Children returning from international travel, including the United States, will need to remain home for 14 days.
  • As the provincial government is warning against all non-essential travel, families who travel to different provinces may be asked to stay home.
  • Children who have family members visiting from other countries will need to remain at home for 14 days.
  • Sick people waiting for a test or test result for Covid 19
  • Children with Covid-19
  • Children with flu like symptoms
  • Sick children and Staff
  • There is zero symptoms policy
  • Any symptoms at all will be prohibited as we do not know if it is contagious
  • If it is allergies and there is a doctor’s note to prove it is not contagious, children may return after symptoms subsides.
  • Children with symptoms cannot return until symptoms are resolved for 48 hours.
  • Children with COVID 19 SYMPTOMS, COLD FLU SYMPTOMS should not return to class until all symptoms are resolved or 10 days, whichever is longer. In the event of a negative Covid 19 test, children can return once symptoms have been resolved. Fever, diarrhea, vomiting need to be symptom free and without fever reducing medication for 48 HOURS FOLLOWING LAST SYMPTOM.

Covid 19 symptoms include:


Most common symptoms:
  • Fever
  • Dry cough
  • Tiredness

Less common symptoms:
  • Aches and pains
  • Sore throat
  • Diarrhoea
  • Conjunctivitis
  • Headache
  • loss of taste or smell
  • a rash on skin, or discolouration of fingers or toes

Serious symptoms:
  • Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath
  • Chest pain or pressure
  • Loss of speech or movement

  • If a child becomes sick at childcare they will be removed from others and parents will be notified to pick the child up immediately and the environment around the child will be cleaned immediately.
  • Staff who are sick will need to stay home until symptom free or tested negative for covid 19. Staff who work at childcare centres will have priority to get tested, just call 811.
  • *please note if staff are sick and a substitute cannot be available, children may be asked to stay home in order to comply with licensing regulations in regards to child:teacher ratios.
  • If anyone in the childcare center is tested positive for Covid-19, the childcare centre will be closed and everyone who attends the childcare center should be isolated for 14 days or be tested for the coronavirus.
  • parents who are sick, should also keep their children home, it is quite likely that if you are contagious you would have passed it to your child.
  • If there is any discrepancy we will call 811 and follow their directions

Mealtimes

To minimize cross contamination:
  • Parents need to prepare their child’s snacks and lunches in ready to eat, ready to serve containers.(Daycare)
  • Please ensure the snacks and lunches are ready to eat (oranges are peeled, foods are cut into bite sized pieces) Daycare
  • Please ensure the snacks and lunches are ready to serve.
  • please bring the necessary utensil for your child if needed.
  • Teachers will be packing away the containers and utensils to be washed at home.
  • please bring ice packs in the lunch bags if food needs to remain frozen. Staff will not be removing lunches and placing them in the fridge.
  • children will try their best to sit apart from one another.
  • water bottles and lunch/snack containers will be sent home daily to be washed.

*Please note the monthly fees are nonrefundable and will not be adjusted for children who need to stay home due illness,Covid 19 or Centre closure.
